This year's banquet was a great success! Although we lost our first venue, Manassas Baptist Church was able to help us out by loaning us their cafeteria.
We were all suprised by how much wonderful food we had and no on left hungry. In fact; it was noted that several families brought MORE than they were asked to! Thank you!
Having Tom Dineen attend our banquet was a great honor. His daughter was a swimmer on our team several years ago. She is too old to swim for us now but Tom still serves as a Stroke & Turn official at ALL of our swim meets! Many of the our officials & coachs frequently ask for his opinion; he is an expert on all strokes. When Tom asked if he could say a few words at the banquet we thought he was just going to say a few words. But; instead, he gave a heart felt speech that brought tears to many of our eyes. Thank you Tom!
As for the Silent Auction; it was a GREAT success! We had over 80 items for people to bid on. There were some VERY popular items. They included both of Rose's SPST afghans, Janet Mruphy's zucchini bread, several baby blankets and of course; registration for next summer.
Because of your generous donations and heated bidding; we were able to raise almost $2000 for the team!
Another highlight of the banquet was the boys 15-18 year old high point award. Only 1 point separated first and second place! Another 4-5 points separated thrid and fourth place! Our coahces did not know until the end of divisionals who won; way to go Wyatt!
Another highlight of the night was our 8 and under girls high point winner. Not only did Ivy Lynn win high point but she earned the most points on the ENTIRE team! WOW! We can't forget to mention Brian and Colin who tied for most improved in the boys 13-14 age group. Neither one of them could swim at the beginning of the season. Both young men are greatly admired for their hard work!
We are so proud of every swimmer who was a part of our team this year. They all did a great job. Way to go SPST!
